To find out what program is needed to open TLM files, you need to determine the file format. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our analysis of the TLM files produces the following result:

The TLM file extension is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. However, the following two file formats are common:

• 25% of all TLM files start with the bytes 00 01 00 00 FA 00 00 00 C0, which are crucial for this file format. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. Most of these files are 26 KB to 450 KB in size. The file type was developed 20 years ago and is still in use today. 0000000a.tlm is a typical file name.
