What is a UYVY file?

UYVY files mostly belong to FFmpeg. UYVY files store raw, uncompressed video frames using the YUV 4:2:2 format. In this layout, each group of 4 bytes holds two pixels by interleaving chrominance (U and V) and luminance (Y) values.

This format does not include a header or metadata; users must manually provide video dimensions and frame rate when processing the file.

It is common in workflows that need the original, unaltered pixel data, such as video diagnostics and conversion tasks.

How to open UYVY files
