What is a VCA file?

VCA files mostly belong to ImageJ. VCA files can be used for several specialized purposes. They are not a single standard file type but rather a container for diverse data.

How do you open VCA files?

Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the VCA files is as follows:

VCA is not a commonly used file extension and covers different formats for different programs. However, the following two file formats are common:

• 30% of all VCA files use the popular GIF file format. GIF is a lossless format for image files that supports both animated and static images. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. Most of these files are 58 KB to 170 KB in size. The file type was created 10 years ago, but is still used today. • 10% of all VCA files are based on the well-known config file format. A configuration file is used by computer software to store settings. It consists of a text-based content with a structure and syntax comprising key–value pairs for properties, and sections that organize the properties. The contents of these files can even be read by a human. The files are on average 960 bytes in size and range from 940 bytes to 970 bytes. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. LicenseeName, RegDate, SerialNumber, StreetAddress, [VCDS_registration], lchahh, Company= and CityState.
