Opening VEP Files
The VEP file type is primarily associated with AVS Video Editor.
What is a VEP file?
How can I open a VEP file?
You need a suitable software like AVS Video Editor from Online Media to open a VEP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your VEP file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a VEP file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

VEP file extension format:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the VEP files looks like this:
VEP is rarely used as a file extension and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. The following file formats are most commonly found in VEP files:
- 45% of all VEP files are AVS Video Editor Project files, which are using the popular XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. These files are text files, so they contain words and text. The files are on average 390 KB in size and range from 280 KB to 1 MB. The files contain the following words: <TimeLine version="1", Line enabled, SourceGroup enabled, Object begin, enabled="1" locked="0"><Objects><Object, enabled="1" volume="100"><Lines><Line, end, timebinding="1" resizetype="1"><SourceGroup, loop and caption="" speed="1". These files can be linked to movie and video.
- 15% of all VEP files save the data in MP4 file format. MP4 is a multimedia container format used to store video and audio and allows streaming over the Internet. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. VEP files are between 2 MB and 430 MB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. \tkhd, ftypisom, lmvhd, mp41avc1 and moov.
All other VEP files (40%) have no consistent format. If you want to find out which format your VEP file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .vep file to analyze".
