What is a VIF file?

VIF files mostly belong to VIBe-Suite. Overview: VIF files are specialized media files that can store either image data or voice data, depending on their origin.
For example,

Vibe/Vector Images: Some VIF files contain image information such as graphic textures, vector art, or even volumetric data (including CT scan metadata). These files are used in imaging applications and sometimes in medical settings.

Voice Files: Other VIF files hold audio data like navigation instructions or in‐game voice prompts. These are used in devices and software such as GPS systems (e.g. TomTom Navigator) and game audio applications.

How do you open VIF files?

You need a suitable software like VIBe-Suite to open a VIF file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your VIF file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a VIF file directly in the browser:. How do you convert VIF files to SVG, PDF, JPG, PNG, ...

VIF format details:

A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our evaluation of the VIF files looks like this:

The VIF file type has no uniform or dominant file format. The following file formats are most commonly found in VIF files:

• 15% of all VIF files start with the bytes VI, which are crucial for this file format. They consist of unreadable binary data. VIF files are between 8 KB and 100 KB in size. The file type was developed 10 years ago and is still in use today. The files contain the following words: VIF100. The file name P_20180601.VIF is characteristic of these files. These files are often associated with forms and vibe.
• 10% of all VIF files start with the magic bytes vif, which are always the first bytes of this file format. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. A typical file size is 9 MB. A common filename is image_0.vif. Files like these are sometimes connected to grey.
