What is a VLD file

VLD files mostly belong to Adobe Photoshop. VLD files can refer to different data types depending on the creator.
For example, one type is a file used in Adobe Photoshop where the file is a Video Layer Data file. In this use, the file often uses a JPG internal format to store layered image data for video or composition work.
Another type is the file created by Vemco systems. Here the VLD file is a Vemco Minilog data file meant for data logging. It is used with Minilog Data Logger Software and viewed in the Minilogger Viewer.

How to open VLD files

A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Below is our analysis of the VLD files:

The VLD file extension is not common and does not have a uniform file format. The two most common formats are as follows:

• 15% of all VLD files use the same file format, which have the signature VRLF. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. Most of these files are 6 KB to 82 KB in size. The keywords VRLF are typical for these files. Such VLD files store data about minilog.
• 15% of all VLD files are based on the well-known JPG file format. JPEG is the standard image format for lossy and compressed image data. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The files are 74 KB to 530 KB in size, with a median of 220 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. JFIF, Adobe and JPEG.
