What is an XRF file?

XRF files mostly belong to Cal3DViewer by Cal3DViewer Developer Community. XRF file extension is used to store 3D materials files created with Cal3D, a 3D skeletal-based character animation library. An XAF materials file contains data used to define the appearance of 3D meshes used by a 3D scene. The data usually includes overlays, brightness, and the ambience applied to each mesh. How to open an XRF file

You need a suitable software like Cal3DViewer to open an XRF file. Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the XRF files is as follows:

The XRF file extension predominantly uses a uniform format. The following file formats are most commonly found in XRF files:

• 80% of all XRF files use the same file format, which have the signature CRF. These files are not plain text files, so they also contain binary data. The files are 59 bytes to 110 bytes in size, with a median of 91 bytes. This file type is new and state-of-the-art. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. Diffuse Color and Opacity. The file name kdMesh.xrf is typical for these files. These files are often associated with chkn, anime, female, head, male, mesh, skin and naked.
• 3% of all XRF files are Cal3D Xml material File files, which are based on the XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. The contents of these files are easily readable with a text editor. The files are 220 bytes to 310 bytes in size, with a median of 250 bytes. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. AMBIENT, DIFFUSE, MATERIAL, NUMMAPS, SHININESS, SPECULAR and VERSION.

All other XRF files (17%) have no uniform format, often, for example, Cross-Reference info.
