Opening an XTAK File
The XTAK file type is primarily associated with Tensile Analysis Software.
What is an XTAK file?
How to open XTAK files
You need a suitable software like Tensile Analysis Software to open an XTAK file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your XTAK file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a XTAK file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert XTAK files:
- Tensile Analysis Software
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. XTAK files are often referred to as Tensile Analysis Software data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- testXpert IIIAn XTAK file is a data file created by testXpert III, a materials testing software from ZwickRoell. It stores tensile test data, such as force, displacement, and strain, measured during material testing experiments. The data within an XTAK file is used for analysis and reporting of material properties like tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation. This file format is classified as Data file.
XTAK file format:
To view or edit XTAK files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our examination of the XTAK files comes to the following conclusion:
The XTAK file extension is not common and predominantly uses a uniform format. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 95% of all XTAK files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "00 00 00 00 00 04 87 1F 35 DD A6 DA 41 B6 EB C7" at the beginning. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The files are often between 150 KB and 5 MB in size. The file type was created 10 years ago, but is still used today. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. MS UI Gothic. These files are attributed to tensile, cekme and batch.
- 3% of all XTAK files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00" at the beginning. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. XTAK files are between 950 KB and 3 MB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. System Administrator.
All other XTAK files (2%) have no uniform format. You can get all the details of your XTAK file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .xtak file to analyze" above.
Technical Data for XTAK File Extension
an xtak data file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with XTAK files
- Associate the XTAK file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest XTAK file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Tensile Analysis Software update.
- To make sure that your XTAK file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .XTAK file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
