XWS file format:
Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Our evaluation of the XWS files looks like this:
Files with the XWS extension are quite widely used. This file type predominantly uses a uniform format. The two most common formats are as follows:
- 70% of all XWS files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "-r " at the beginning. These files are text files, so they contain words and text. The file size is in the range of 81 bytes to 90 bytes. The file type was developed 20 years ago and is still in use today. The keywords -a atr, -r 100, database, physiobank, mitdb and -p http://<!--#echo var="SERVER_NAME" --><!--#echo var="DOCUMENT_URI" --> are typical for these files. An example of a file name is 100.xws or 1001103.xws.
- 15% of all XWS files are based on the zip format, so several files are compressed and saved in one XWS file. An XWS file can contain up to 200 files (mostly 4 - 180). File names inside are export.xml. If you'd like to see the images and files included, just rename the file extension to .zip and double-click. XWS files can be up to 180 MB in size, but are often around 9 KB - 32 MB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. export.xml. Files like these have the following tags: hifi, library, linux and vfpu.
All the rest of the XWS files (15%) have different formats, the following 7 formats can be found: Xara WebStyle, Source, certificate and XWSFILE. Tagged as stream or sound. You can get all the details of your XWS file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .xws file to analyze" above.
