What is a 00 file?

00 files mostly belong to PDFium. *.00 files are fragments of a larger file that has been split into pieces. They are not complete on their own and must be joined with later parts (often .01, .02, etc.) to recreate the original file.
Use cases include:

PDF segments: Tools like PDFium may split a large PDF into a .00 part and subsequent parts.

Compressed archives: Programs such as WinZip or 7-Zip can create .00 files as early segments of a multi-part ZIP, GZIP, or even TIFF archive.

Image fragments: Some JPEG files are divided into parts to manage large images.

Backup and game archives: Certain security systems (e.g., Sophos Firewall backups) and split Playstation 2 game archives also use this extension to hold a portion of the full archive.

How to open a 00 file

You need a suitable software like PDFium to open a 00 file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Below is our analysis of the 00 files:

00 is one of the most common file extensions and includes very many different file formats. But the following two file formats are common:

• 15% of all 00 files internally utilize the PDF file format. PDF is short for Portable Document Format, is a file format to present documents, including text formatting and images, in a manner independent of application software, hardware, and operating systems. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. Most of these files are 40 KB to 2 MB in size. The file type was created recently. Such files are related to scanner, draft, sccpl, receipt and dokbaru.
• 8% of all 00 files are based on the zip format, multiple files are compressed and combined into one 00 file. A 00 file can contain up to 260 files (mostly 1 - 21). File names are e.g. data1.json.
