All about 00001 Files
The 00001 file type is primarily associated with RadiAnt DICOM Viewer.
What is a 00001 file?
*.00001 files are parts of a larger file that has been split into segments. They are not complete on their own and must be combined with the other parts to recover the full data.
Depending on the internal format, an *.00001 file can serve different roles. For example:
- DICOM Medical Image: This file can be a segment of a DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) image. It is used in medical imaging and can be viewed with specialized programs like RadiAnt DICOM Viewer.
- Split Archive File: In many cases, *.00001 is the first part of a multipart compressed archive. It may belong to formats like ZIP, RAR, GZIP, or 7z. To reassemble the archive, use tools such as WinZip, 7-Zip, or WinRAR.
- Video Segment: Sometimes, the file is the initial segment of a split Matroska (MKV) video. In that case, merging the segments with software like MKVToolNix will allow playback of the full video.
- Email Archive Part: On occasion, an *.00001 file is part of a larger archive of email messages, such as those from Yahoo! Groups (Yahoo! Groups).
FilExt.com notes: The numeric extension .00001 simply indicates its sequence in a series. Without all corresponding parts (for example, .00002, .00003, etc.), the full file cannot be reassembled or used. Identify the file’s internal format to choose the correct software for merging and viewing the content.

Programs that open and convert 00001 files:
- RadiAnt DICOM Viewer
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. 00001 files are often referred to as RadiAnt DICOM Viewer compresseds because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- DICOM (medical image) by NEMA00001 is a medical image in DICOM format. DICOM is the abbreviation for "Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine" and is an international standard for storing, processing, printing, displaying, and transmitting medical images such as MRI and CT scans. It was first developed by the joint efforts of the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA). The current version was developed by the DICOM Standards Committee (www.dicomstandard.org).
00001 file format:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. Our examination of the 00001 files comes to the following conclusion:
00001 is not a common file extension and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 25% of all 00001 files are using the well-known DICOM file format to store the data. DICOM is short for Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine. DICOM files are used to store, exchange, and transmit medical images from radiography, ultrasonography, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and radiation therapy, but also personal data about the patient. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. The files are on average 520 KB in size and range from 4 KB to 6 MB. This file type is based on cutting-edge technology. The files contain the following words: DICM and 1.2.840.10008.5.1.4.1.1.1. Some examples of file names are 00001..
- 10% of all 00001 files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "From " at the beginning. These files are plain text, which means they can be viewed with any text editor such as Windows Editor, Nano for Linux, and TextEdit for macOS. A typical file size is 5 MB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. From, Return-Path, X-Apparently-To, X-Sender, yahoogroups and Received: (EGP. Files like these are sometimes connected to mbox.
All other 00001 files (65%) have no consistent format, the following 6 formats can be found: MKV, ZIP, RAR and PaxHeader. These files sometimes refer to course, hacking, telugu, audio, linux, telly or kali. If you want to find out what your 00001 file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.

a 00001 segment is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with 00001 files
- Associate the 00001 file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open segments. Because only the current version supports the latest 00001 file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available RadiAnt DICOM Viewer update.
- To make sure that your 00001 file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
