Opening an IM0 File
The IM0 file type is primarily associated with DICOM.
What is an IM0 file
How to open an IM0 file
You need a suitable software like DICOM to open an IM0 file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your IM0 file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a IM0 file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert IM0 files:
- DICOM by NEMA
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application.
- 3DVIEWNIX (scene data) by University of Pennsylvania3DVIEWNIX is a software developed by the Medical Image Processing Group at the Department of Radiology, University of Pennsylvania. It allows users to visualise and analyse multidimensional images, usually for medical purposes. The IM0 file format is an abbreviation for Image0. It stores scene data for models made in 3DVIEWNIX.
IM0 file format:
Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. In the following you will find our evaluation of the IM0 files:
IM0 is one of the most common file extensions and mainly uses a defined IM0 format. The following file formats are most commonly found in IM0 files:
- 75% of all IM0 files are based on the popular DICOM file format. DICOM is short for Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine. DICOM files are used to store, exchange, and transmit medical images from radiography, ultrasonography, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and radiation therapy, but also personal data about the patient. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The files are on average 2 MB in size and range from 170 KB to 14 MB. The file type is relatively new. The following keywords are characteristic: DICM and 1.2.840.10008.5.1.4.1.1.12.1.
All the rest of the IM0 files (25%) have different formats. If you want to find out what your IM0 file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
Technical Data for IM0 File Extension
an im0 medical image is a special file format by NEMA and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with IM0 files
- Associate the IM0 file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open medical images. Because only the current version supports the latest IM0 file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the NEMA manufacturer website after an available DICOM update.
- To make sure that your IM0 file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
