What is an AFM file?

AFM files mostly belong to Creative Cloud by Adobe. An AFM file contains metadata of a raw disk image saved in Advanced Forensic Format (AFF). Such metadata is saved as XML-encoded information for a chain of evidence or a system audit trail. Digital forensic metadata is usually embedded in an AFF disk image. When stored separately, the AFM file references the AFF file. A different AFM file contains metrics and master designs for Type 1 PostScript fonts used by Adobe design applications. AFF is also the filename extension of the flame parameter macro used by Alphacam woodworking software. Abassis Finance Manager saves data in AFM files.

How to open an AFM file

You need a suitable software like Creative Cloud to open an AFM file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your AFM file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a AFM file directly in the browser:.
