What is an ANO file

ANO files mostly belong to AnyDesk. ANO files are specialized data files that serve different purposes depending on the application.
They may contain data for circuit design, remote network settings, or simulation results.

Circuit Design: In one use case, an ANO file holds a Micro-Cap circuit design. This file stores schematic and layout information for electronic circuits.

Network Configuration: Another type is known as an Anonymous Network Object. In this case, the file is used by AnyDesk and may also serve as a Redis Connection Configuration File managed by RedisDesktopManager. More details are available at AnyDesk.

How to open ANO files

You need a suitable software like AnyDesk to open an ANO file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our evaluation of the ANO files is as follows:

ANO is seldom used as a file extension and covers a large number of different file formats. The following file formats are most commonly found in ANO files:

• 10% of all ANO files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "**************************************************" at the beginning. The contents of these files can even be read by a human. ANO files can be up to 1 MB in size, but are often around 2 KB - 48 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. ************, Micro-Cap 12 and 64 bit.
• 7% of all ANO files use the same file format, which have the signature W3siaG9zdCI6I. If you open these files in a text editor, you can view and read the content yourself. The files are often between 96 bytes and 980 bytes in size. The following keywords are characteristic: siaG and zdCI. A usual file name is connections.ano.
