What is a CLG file?

CLG files mostly belong to Windows System Image Manager by Microsoft. CLG file is short for calalog file. CLG file format is used as a setting file format by Windows System Image Manager (Windows SIM).

• Main Use: Windows System Image Manager (Windows SIM) is a program used for creating and managing disregarded Windows Setup answer files. When a WIM (Windows image) file is opened in Windows System Image Manager, a corresponding CLG (catalog) file is created automatically. In case the catalog file is already present, the CLG file is recreated by Windows SIM. The CLG file contains a list of all the settings in the WIM (Windows image) file including the status of all components and packages that are used to display the WIM file contents without the need to need to read the entire WIM file. CLG files are generally encountered on Windows installation discs.
• Other Uses: Project files created by the Collage Maker application also use the CLG extension. Collage Maker is used for grouping multiple digital images into one single image. The CLG file store the project details such as image locations and is useful in retrieving this information while working on an incomplete project at a later point in time. CLG file type is also used by QIP (Quiet Internet Pager), a freeware instant messenger application developed by Ilgam Zulkorneev for online communication. It stores discarded and blocked contact data such as name and ICQ number in CLG file format.

How to open CLG files

You need a suitable software like Windows System Image Manager to open a CLG file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
