All about CRB Files
The CRB file type is primarily associated with Cook'n MasterCook.
What is a CRB file?
Your CRB file may contain one of several specialized data types.
It could be a recipe database file using the JetDB format, found in systems such as Cook'n MasterCook (more info).
It might also be an audio soundbank container that relies on the RIFF format and is used with Creative WaveSynth or Awave Studio (details here).
Some files store machine data (for Mycronic equipment or Yamaha SMT machines) and others record Tally report information for Tally ERP 9 (Tally Solutions).
Use the correct software for each type to open and view the file.
Inappropriate software may not read the file correctly.
- Recipe Database: Holds cookbook recipe data via JetDB.
- Audio Soundbank: Contains wavetables using the RIFF container.
- Machine Data: Stores manufacturing or machine configuration details.
- Tally Report: Manages accounting and report information for ERP systems.
FilExt.com tip: Identify the file’s origin to choose the right application and handle the file safely.
How to open CRB files

This file format is classified as Database.
CRB file format:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Below you will find our evaluation of the CRB files:
CRB is not that commonly used as a file extension. This file type includes different formats for the applicable programs. But the following two file formats are common:
- 20% of all CRB files store the data in the JetDB file format. The JetDB is a database format often used by Microsoft Access and Visual Basic programs. JET is short for Joint Engine Technology. They consist of unreadable binary data. A typical file size is 1 MB. The file type was developed 10 years ago and is still in use today. The files contain the following words: Standard Jet DB. The following filename is common: crockpot.crb. These files are often associated with recipes and favorites, and often include person-related information.
- 15% of all CRB files have the same signature [Index] Format=CERBERUS Version=2.. These files contain text and words, not binary data. The average file size is 260 KB with most files being between 56 KB and 530 KB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: Date, Diff=NO, Format=CERBERUS, MJSID, Version, [Index], Comment="", [LotNames], AuthorType=Machine, IDNUM LotNum, Author=NPM, Machine=NPM and Machine=PRISM.
All other CRB files (65%) have no uniform format, often, for example, RIFF. Tagged as sales, register or courbe. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your CRB file!
Technical Data for CRB File Extension
The following listing is compiled from the database produced by the 'Associate This!' program, selected data from the main FILExt database and file extension information submitted by users.
EXEFile: %ProgramFiles%\EXPERT~1\CARDGA~1\classics.exe
EXEFile: %ProgramFiles%\Lakefront Software\BigOven\bigoven.exe
a crb data file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with CRB files
- Associate the CRB file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest CRB file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Cook'n MasterCook update.
- To make sure that your CRB file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .CRB file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
