CUR file format:
If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our analysis of the CUR files produces the following result:
The CUR file type is a very commonly used file extension and includes different formats for different programs. The file formats most commonly found in CUR files are:
- 55% of all CUR files are Windows Cursor shape files. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. Most of these files are 330 bytes to 4 KB in size. The file type was developed 20 years ago and is still in use today. Cursor.cur is a typical file name. Files like these are about select, normal, arrow, mouse, pointer, diamond, yellow and sword.
All other CUR files (45%) have no consistent format. They are often associated with aero, cross, link, firmware, helpsel, hand or text. If you want to find out what your CUR file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
