What is a CXF file?
How to open CXF files
You need a suitable software like Cuttlefish to open a CXF file. See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. CXF files are often referred to as Cuttlefish data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.

CXF file extension format:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Below you will find our evaluation of the CXF files:
The CXF file extension is rather rarely used and mainly uses a defined CXF format. The file formats most commonly found in CXF files are:
- 80% of all CXF files belong to Picasa collage. The files are using the common file format XML. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. The contents of these files can even be read by a human. The file size is in the range of 1 KB to 52 KB. The file type was developed only in the last few years. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>, <cc:FileInformation>, Creator, <cc:CxF xmlns:cc="http://colorexchangeformat.com/CxF3-core" and xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">. A usual file name is Print_Test_Form_Blue.cxf. Files like these are sometimes connected to blue, pantone, print, form, solid, coated, green, autosave, global, master and stone.
- 7% of all CXF files are based on the well-known certificate file format. A digital certificate is a unique, digitally signed document which authoritatively identifies the identity of an individual or organization. Using public key cryptography, its authenticity can be verified to ensure that the software or website you are using is legitimate. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The file size is in the range of 1 KB to 9 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. SciFinder-js, g0e0c and sfweb. These files are often associated with structure.
All the rest of the CXF files (13%) have different formats. If you want to find out what your CXF file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
Technical Data for CXF File Extension
a cxf network data visulization is a special file format by Dev-cuttlefish and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with CXF files
- Associate the CXF file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open network data visulizations. Because only the current version supports the latest CXF file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Dev-cuttlefish manufacturer website after an available Cuttlefish update.
- To make sure that your CXF file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
