What is a DQL file

DQL files mostly belong to DIFFRAC.EVA. DQL files are used to store X-ray diffraction data generated by Bruker instruments. They record the detailed outcomes of diffraction experiments and include both the raw measurement data and metadata from the instrument.

Purpose: To capture diffraction patterns from materials for crystallographic analysis.

Functionality: Data from the Bruker D8 Discover diffractometer is saved in these files, and similar data is used by XRDWizard.

Usage: They are meant to be processed with Bruker software such as DIFFRAC.EVA, ensuring accurate analysis.

How do you open DQL files?

You need a suitable software like DIFFRAC.EVA to open a DQL file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your DQL file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a DQL file directly in the browser:. A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. As a file extension, DQL isn't very common and mainly uses a defined DQL format. The two most popular formats are as follows:

• 85% of all DQL files have the same signature ;RAW4.00 [RawHeader] Date=. The contents of these files are easily readable with a text editor. Most of these files are 20 KB to 100 KB in size. It is a modern file type. The following keywords are characteristic: ;RAW4.00, Date, FurtherDQLReading=0, HardwareIndicator=65519, MeasuredTotalTime=0, NumberOfMeasuredRanges=1, NumberOfRanges=1, [RawHeader], EstimatedTotalTime=0 and MeasurementFlag=1. These files are attributed to sample, tasn, scan, drzhao, powder and mafo.
• 9% of all DQL files start with the bytes RAW4.00, which are crucial for this file format. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. DQL files can be up to 3 KB in size, but are often around 920 bytes - 1 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. CREATOR, RAW4.00, XRDWizard, CREATOR_VERSION, V2.9.0.22, WIZARD_VERSION, USER and WIZARD_DOCTYPE.
