What is a DX file?

DX files mostly belong to JDSpecView by JDSpecView Developers. DX is the filename extension of a text document containing spectra saved in JCAMP Spectroscopic Data Exchange Format. Programs like JDSpecView support DX format. Another type of DX file is a map used in Deux Ex computer video game. How to open a DX file

You need a suitable software like JDSpecView to open a DX file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. 65% of all DX files belong to JCAMP-DX format. The contents of these files are easily readable with a text editor. DX files are between 5 KB and 310 KB in size. This file type is new and state-of-the-art. The following keywords are characteristic: TITLE, ORIGIN, JCAMP-DX, OWNER, SPECTRUM, DATA CLASS, ##DATA TYPE=, NTUPLES, LONG DATE and NMR FID. Files like these have the following tags: sample, nedachin, spectrum, nmready and week.
5% of all DX files are based on the well-known DICOM file format. DICOM is short for Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine. DICOM files are used to store, exchange, and transmit medical images from radiography, ultrasonography, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and radiation therapy, but also personal data about the patient. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. Most of these files are 740 KB to 3 MB in size. The keywords 1.2.840.10008.5.1.4.1.1.1.1 and DICM are typical for these files. Such DX files store data about patient.
