Opening an FNX File
The FNX file type is primarily associated with FeatherNotes.
What is an FNX file
The most common use is as a FeatherNotes note file that stores its data in an XML format. This means the file is readable by text editors and specialized note applications.
Other uses include:
How do you open FNX files?
You need a suitable software like FeatherNotes to open an FNX file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your FNX file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a FNX file directly in the browser:. FNX format details:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Below you will find our evaluation of the FNX files:
The FNX file extension is not found very often and includes different formats for the applicable programs. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 30% of all FNX files are using the well-known XML file format to store the data. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. These files contain text and words, not binary data. The average file size is 53 KB with most files being between 2 KB and 2 MB in size. It is a modern file type. The keywords <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>, feathernotes, nodefont, node name, Monospace, PLOFormatStruktur xmlns, Sans, <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>, DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC and txtfont are typical for these files. The file name 2020-06-01_EMA_P300_1.FNX is characteristic of these files.
- 30% of all FNX files start with the magic bytes FONT, which are always the first bytes of this file format. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The files are on average 15 KB in size and range from 5 KB to 1 MB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as FONT. An example of a file name is alien.fnx or blockfont.fnx. Such files sometimes refer to chinesef, ideas, kanji, blackfont, extended, latin and font.
All other FNX files (40%) have no consistent format, frequently e.g. DDS and EFIINDEX. Often described as dafca or cbea. If you want to find out which format your FNX file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .fnx file to view".
Technical Data for FNX File Extension
an fnx container is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with FNX files
- Associate the FNX file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open containers. Because only the current version supports the latest FNX file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available FeatherNotes update.
- To make sure that your FNX file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .FNX file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
