Opening a GSN File
The GSN file type is primarily associated with Cyberboard Gamebox.
What is a GSN file?
In some cases, GSN files are used as game sprite files. some of them, for example, are associated with titles like Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and might be used to store image data for sprites. Such files can be handled by specialized game asset editors or modding utilities. For further details on the GTA: San Andreas use case, check out the related webpage.
Usage Tips:
How to open GSN files
You need a suitable software like Cyberboard Gamebox to open a GSN file. If you cannot open your GSN file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a GSN file directly in the browser:. Programs that open and convert GSN files:
- Cyberboard Gamebox
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. GSN files are often referred to as Cyberboard Gamebox games because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Cyberboard (Scenario) by Dale LarsonThe CyberBoard board gaming system is designed for playing board games by mail and electronic mail. The system allows you to graphically design the various parts of a board game on your computer. The players can make their moves and exchange recorded versions of the moves with their opponents. The opponent can then play back the moves. The GSN file is an electronic file that contains the counter groupings, counter images, maps and charts for a given scenario in a paper game. The identifying characters used for this association are - Hex: 47 53 43 4E, ASCII: GSCN. This file format is classified as Game.
- GeneSys (Norm File) by Psytech InternationalGeneSys can administer, score and generate reports on virtually any psychometric test, questionnaire and most surveys. All user defined norms within the geneSys3 system may be exported to satellite systems.Once the user-defined norms have been imported into the satellite system, unwanted norms may be deleted if they are not required.
GSN file extension format:
Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our analysis of the GSN files produces the following result:
The GSN file extension is not common and mainly uses a defined GSN format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 75% of all GSN files belong to Cyberboard Scenario. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. Most of these files are 1 KB to 7 KB in size. The file type was created 20 years ago but is still used today. The following keywords are characteristic: GSCN. GScn1.gsn is a typical file name. Such files are related to basic, scenario, game, mission and bloody.
- 20% of all GSN files start with the bytes QQF, which are crucial for this file format. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. The average file size is 14 KB with most files being between 5 KB and 150 KB in size. The keywords DIMG are typical for these files.
The remaining 5% of all GSN files are files with no common format. Just click the "Choose your .gsn file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your GSN file is.
