What is an HSS file?

HSS files mostly belong to Hero Siege. Hero Siege Save File: HSS files are used mainly to store game progress for the game Hero Siege. The file contains key data such as player statistics, inventory, and level settings. You normally open this file by launching the game itself.

Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. In the following you will find our evaluation of the HSS files:

The HSS file ending is primarily used by a single program. But the following two file formats are common:

• 75% of all HSS files have the same signature eJ. These files contain text and words, not binary data. The files are often between 4 KB and 33 KB in size. The file type is very recent. The file name herosiege0.hss or herosiege1.hss is characteristic of these files. Files like these are sometimes connected to inventory, order and stash.
• 7% of all HSS files are based on the Microsoft Compound File format, which is also known as Compound File Binary File format (CFBF or CFB) or OLE2 Compound Document format. Microsoft Compound File is a complex container format used by some versions of Microsoft Office and other Windows-centric applications. It has features similar to those of a filesystem format. Header signature for the CFB format with 8-byte Hex value D0CF11E0A1B11AE1 (which looks like "DOCFILE"). The file contains several sections which are named like h41h41h41h41h41h41041000. The average file size is 960 KB with most files being between 34 KB and 8 MB in size. Files like these are sometimes connected to person-related data.
