How to open KRZ files

KRZ file format:

Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. KRZ is not a common file extension and includes various formats for various programs. The two most common formats are as follows:

• 50% of all KRZ files are Kurzweil K2-serie sample files. They consist of unreadable binary data. The file size is in the range of 12 KB to 1 MB. The file type was created 20 years ago but is still used today. The files contain the following words: PRAM. These files can be linked to xprogs, sebbarparn and newfile.
• 35% of all KRZ files use the ZIP format, multiple files are compressed and combined into one KRZ file. The 10 to 70 compressed files are called documentinfo.xml, maindoc.xml, mimetype, preview.png, \Unnamed\, \Unnamed\animation\index.xml, \Unnamed\annotations\icc, \Unnamed\layers\layer1.defaultpixel and \Unnamed\layers\layer1.icc. Tip: If you rename the file ending to .zip and then double-click it, you see the included files and images. KRZ files can be up to 210 MB in size, but are often around 490 KB - 22 MB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as maindoc.xml and mimetypeapplication/x-kritaPK.
