Opening a LID File
The LID file type is primarily associated with Zoner Photo Studio.
What is a LID file
In other cases, LID files are used as Language Identifier files. These files support localization in installation programs such as InstallShield Professional and tools from Setup Factory. They hold language settings that help the installer present text in multiple languages.
How to open LID files
You need a suitable software like Zoner Photo Studio to open a LID file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your LID file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a LID file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

LID file format details:
To view or edit LID files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our evaluation of the LID files looks like this:
LID is rarely used as a file extension and includes various formats for various programs. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 30% of all LID files start with the bytes 0100 crucial for this file format. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. Most of these files are 270 bytes to 520 bytes in size. This is an old file type which is rarely used today. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. Holiday.
- 15% of all LID files are InstallShield Language Identifier files, which are using the popular config file format. A configuration file is used by computer software to store settings. It consists of a text-based content with a structure and syntax comprising key–value pairs for properties, and sections that organize the properties. These files are text files, so they contain words and text. LID files can be up to 50 bytes in size, but are often around 47 bytes - 49 bytes. The following keywords are characteristic: [Languages], Default=0009, count=1 and key0=0009. setup.lid is a typical file name.
All other LID files (55%) have no uniform format, often, for example, Lextek Language Identification Module and DOC. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your LID file!
Technical Data for LID File Extension
a lid data container is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with LID files
- Associate the LID file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data containers. Because only the current version supports the latest LID file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Zoner Photo Studio update.
- To make sure that your LID file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .LID file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
