Opening LLB Files
The LLB file type is primarily associated with LabVIEW.
What is an LLB file?
LabVIEW Library Files: These files are used in National Instruments' LabVIEW. They store collections of Virtual Instruments (VIs) and their associated block diagrams and front panels. This setup helps in reusing and managing code within a graphical programming environment. More details are available on the NI LabVIEW download page.
OrCAD Layout Library Files: Some LLB files are used with OrCAD PCB Designer. They contain layout components and design elements used in printed circuit board (PCB) development. Information can be found on the Cadence website.
Purpose and Functionality:
How to open LLB files
You need a suitable software like LabVIEW to open an LLB file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your LLB file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a LLB file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert LLB files:
- LabVIEW
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. LLB files are often referred to as LabVIEW developers because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.

LLB file format:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our examination of the LLB files comes to the following conclusion:
As a file extension, LLB isn't very common and mainly uses a special format. The following file formats are most commonly found in LLB files:
- 80% of all LLB files start with the bytes RSRC , which are crucial for this file format. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The files are 69 KB to 3 MB in size, with a median of 630 KB. The file type is very old but is also used today. The following keywords are characteristic: LVARLBVW and RSRC. These files are attributed to labview, contents, hioki, demo, driver, solver and meter.
- 9% of all LLB files have the same signature 01 00 2C 00. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. LLB files are between 23 KB and 210 KB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as Unnamed and OrCAD INC., Layout Database V9.2.3. Files like these have the following tags: recommend and pico.
The remaining 11% of all LLB files are different files with different signatures. Files like these are sometimes linked to logbook. If you want to find out what your LLB file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
Technical Data for LLB File Extension
The following listing is compiled from the database produced by the 'Associate This!' program, selected data from the main FILExt database and file extension information submitted by users.
EXEFile: C:\Robolab 2.5.4\Robolab254.exe %1
EXEFile: %ProgramFiles%\National Instruments\LabVIEW 6 Eval\LabVIEW.exe %1

an llb library file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with LLB files
- Associate the LLB file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open library files. Because only the current version supports the latest LLB file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available LabVIEW update.
- To make sure that your LLB file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .LLB file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
