All about OCB Files
The OCB file type is primarily associated with MSI Command Center.
What is an OCB file?
This extension is most commonly seen as the MSI BIOS settings file used by the MSI Command Center. In this case, the file holds overclocking settings such as voltage and frequency parameters that adjust the system hardware. It is a binary configuration file and should only be modified with the proprietary software.

How to open an OCB file
You need a suitable software like MSI Command Center to open an OCB file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your OCB file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a OCB file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert OCB files:
- MSI Command Center
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. OCB files are often referred to as MSI Command Center settings because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Origin (Precompiled Origin C File) by OriginLab CorporationOrigin is scientific graphing and data analysis software.
OCB file format details:
To view or edit OCB files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our examination of the OCB files comes to the following conclusion:
The OCB file ending mainly uses a defined OCB format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 70% of all OCB files have the same signature $MOS$E7. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The average file size is 5 KB with most files being between 5 KB and 8 KB in size. The file type is old but is used even today. Some examples of file names are MsOcFile.ocb. Such OCB files store data about msoc, stable, bios, settings and profile.
- 10% of all OCB files use ZIP compression, i.e. an OCB file contains several compressed files. Most often they are 4 to 160 compressed files. You can see the included files and images by renaming the file extension to .zip and then double-clicking it. The files are on average 2 MB in size and range from 67 KB to 72 MB. These files are often associated with config and opus.
All other OCB files (20%) have no uniform format. These files sometimes refer to chart, hierarchy or position. Just click the "Choose your .ocb file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your OCB file is.
Technical Data for OCB File Extension
an ocb binary configuration file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with OCB files
- Associate the OCB file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open binary configuration files. Because only the current version supports the latest OCB file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available MSI Command Center update.
- To make sure that your OCB file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
