What is a P8 file?

P8 files mostly belong to OpenSSL.

Primary Use: Private Cryptographic Key File: The majority of P8 files are used as private cryptographic key files in security applications. How to open P8 files

The P8 extension is very commonly found and predominantly uses a uniform format. But the following two file formats are common:

• 95% of all P8 files internally utilize the KEY file format. A public or private key is used in Public-key cryptography to digitally sign or verify documents, software or websites, or to authentice a user. The contents of these files are easily readable with a text editor. The files are 250 bytes to 1 KB in size, with a median of 250 bytes. The file type is very recent. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as ----BEGIN PRIVATE KEY----, AgEGCCqGSM and MIGTAgEAMBMGByqGSM. Files like these are sometimes connected to auth, music, apple, private, subscription, sign and musickit.
• 3% of all P8 files are based on the well-known certificate file format. A digital certificate is a unique, digitally signed document which authoritatively identifies the identity of an individual or organization. Using public key cryptography, its authenticity can be verified to ensure that the software or website you are using is legitimate. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. Most of these files are 630 bytes to 1 KB in size. Such files sometimes refer to fdsproject and sftp.
