What is a PF2 file

PF2 files mostly belong to pf2fontview. PF2 files are not a single file type but a group of different file formats that share the same extension.

How do you open PF2 files?

You need a suitable software like pf2fontview to open a PF2 file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. PF2 file extension format:

Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. PF2 is not that commonly used as a file extension. This file type is mainly used by one program with a specific format. The following file formats are most commonly found in PF2 files:

• 75% of all PF2 files belong to GRUB2 font. They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are often between 21 KB and 2 MB in size. The file type was developed only in the last few years. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as CHIX, FAMI, FILE, PFF2NAME, PTSZ, SLAN, WEIG, normal, Regular, MAXW, DESC, ASCE, MAXH and DejaVu Sans. The file name unicode.pf2 or terminus-12.pf2 is typical for these files. Such PF2 files store data about dejavu, sans, regular, vusans, deja, unifont, ubuntu and bold.
• 10% of all PF2 files have the same signature 00 00 20. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The files are often between 1 KB and 5 KB in size. The files contain the following words: A%5Ee and n;bf;. Examples of file names are Technicolor_CineStyle_v1.0.pf2. These files are attributed to style, cine and technicolor.
