What is a PMX file

PMX files mostly belong to MikuMikuDance by Yu Higuchi. PMX file extension is associated with a 3D model format used by MikuMikuDance, a 3D modeling and dance simulation software. Contents of a MikuMikuDance PMX file include 3D meshes of 3D models, dancers, morphs, color, skeletal data, and texturized accessories used by the models. The morphs stored in PMX files are used to define the dancer's model's position, motion states, gestures etc. ProcessMaker, a software for automating form-based and approval driven workflows stores projects in PMX files using XML format. The PMX file extension is also used to store design projects created with PrintMaster, a layout design/desktop publishing software. Pegasus Mail, an email client for Windows computers stores outgoing emails in PMX files. Contents of PMX emails are in their final form, which means they can't be modified (but can be deleted). PMX is also one of the filename extensions that PageMaker used to store documents.

How to open a PMX file

You need a suitable software like MikuMikuDance to open a PMX file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PMX file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PMX file directly in the browser:.
