What is a PPI file?
How to open PPI files
You need a suitable software like Expansion Manager to open a PPI file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PPI file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PPI file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

PPI format details:
Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Our analysis of the PPI files produces the following result:
The PPI file type is a very commonly used file extension and includes different formats for the applicable programs. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 65% of all PPI files have the same signature XPIH. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. A typical file size is 79 MB. The file type was developed only in the last few years. The following keywords are characteristic: XPID, XPIH, XMDL, VWDL, Copyright, Generated by VSFW, Rights Reserved, WAVE, Yamaha Corporation, build and bytes. Such files are related to pack, install, data, indian, mariachi, genos, organ, tyros and audio.
- 25% of all PPI files use ZIP compression, so several files are combined and compressed into one PPI file. 1 to 24 compressed files are common. File names inside are always ppi.xml, \PrismaPro\, \PrismaPro\Bin\PrismaProCommon.ini and \PrismaPro\Bin\PrismaProLocal.ini. If you want to see the included files and images, simply rename the file extension to .zip and double-click it. The files are 6 KB to 20 MB in size, with a median of 3 MB. The keywords PrismaPro/db/Main.fdb and ppi.xml are typical for these files. Such files sometimes refer to smart, pagamento, xsmart, pedido, ptri, aplver, paints, agent and knpl.
All other PPI files (10%) have no uniform format, frequently e.g. EXE. Tagged as pavlovsky, ofeurope, exotic, latest, yamaha, super, sweat or best. If you want to find out what your PPI file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.

- To make sure that your PPI file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .PPI file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
