What is a PQX file

How do you open PQX files?

You need a suitable software like Power BI Desktop to open a PQX file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. The PQX file ending is mainly used by one program with a specific format. But the following two file formats are common:

• 90% of all PQX files use ZIP compression, i.e. a PQX file contains several compressed files. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The files are 43 KB to 6 MB in size, with a median of 4 MB.
