What is an SLT file

SLT files mostly belong to Gallery Lock by Morrison Software. SLT stands for salt. This extension is used by a folder in Firefox. Firefox is a free and open-source web browser from Mozilla. The salt folder stores profile data in Firefox for a user. The location of a profile has three parts. These are the base, the name, and the salt. The base is the main directory where user profiles are stored. In Windows, Users\Profile\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles is typically the base, but it may differ depending on the system. The Profiles folder contains the name folder for each profile, which is identified by the profile name. The name folder contains the salt, which is a folder named with eight random alphanumeric characters and has the SLT extension. The purpose of storing profile data in a randomly named directory is making it difficult for malicious programs to access user data. The use of a random string of characters to secure data is called salting.

How to open an SLT file

You need a suitable software like Gallery Lock to open an SLT file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
