SRF file format details:
To find out what program is needed to open SRF files, you need to determine the file format. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Below you will find our evaluation of the SRF files:
The file type with the extension 'SRF' includes many different file formats. The following file formats are most commonly found in SRF files:
- 15% of all SRF files are Garmin vechicle images files. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. SRF files can be up to 2 MB in size, but are often around 1.2 MB - 1.5 MB. This is an old file type which is rarely used today. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. GARMIN BITMAP 01 and 006-D0578-XX. These files can be linked to blue, rover and road.
- 15% of all SRF files are You Don't Know Jack game data archive files. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The files are on average 1 MB in size and range from 5 KB to 10 MB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. srf1. Some examples of file names are Gibber.srf. Such files are related to base and game.
All other SRF files (70%) have different formats, frequently e.g. SRF map, FileLocator Pro Search Criteria and Steinberg. Tagged as track, page, plot or skin. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your SRF file!
