To view or edit SVQ files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our evaluation of the SVQ files is as follows:

SVQ is seldom used as a file extension and is used by different programs with different formats. But the following two file formats are common:

• 65% of all SVQ files are Roland XP-50 music sequence files. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The average file size is 81 KB with most files being between 12 KB and 250 KB in size. The file type was primarily used more than 20 years ago. These files are often associated with music, song, demo and user.
• 20% of all SVQ files have the same signature RSVQ. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. The files are on average 29 KB in size and range from 900 bytes to 99 KB. The keywords RSVQ and RECORDED DATA are typical for these files. The following filename is common: SONG01.SVQ or SONG.SVQ. Such files are related to prog.
