All about TABLE Files
The TABLE file type is primarily associated with KNIME Analytics Platform.
What is a TABLE file?
They are not a single type of file but rather a label used by different applications to save data tables. Some files use a compressed (ZIP) container to hold large amounts of data while others use plain text formats like XML or JSON. In some cases, the file contains an entire database (e.g. SQLite) used for managing records.
Common use cases include:
- KNIME Analytics: Data tables compressed in a ZIP archive. More details are available at KNIME.
- Speech Recognition: Lookup tables used for keyword spotting in speech recognition engines (e.g. Mozilla DeepSpeech projects).
- Thermal Analysis: Files holding data gathered in thermal tests, as used with Netzsch Proteus Thermal Analysis Software. Additional info at this site.
- Notion: Data tables used internally by the application to organize and manage information.
- Engine Tuning: XML-based tables that store tuning parameters, as handled by tools from EFI Analytics. Visit EFI Analytics for more.
- Web Application Databases: Table definitions in web applications built with web2py, using PyDAL.
- JSON and SQLite: Some files are formatted as JSON data tables or as complete SQLite database files, which are used by educational platforms such as Runestone Interactive Textbooks.
Opening and Viewing:
Use a proper tool based on the file's internal format. A ZIP utility is needed for compressed files, text editors or XML/JSON viewers for text files, and database viewers for SQLite files.
FilExt.com tip: This file is a data file that organizes information in rows and columns. It is best understood by checking its internal format to determine which software you should use.
How do you open TABLE files?
You need a suitable software like KNIME Analytics Platform to open a TABLE file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your TABLE file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a TABLE file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert TABLE files:
- KNIME Analytics Platform
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. TABLE files are often referred to as KNIME Analytics Platform data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.

TABLE file format:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our analysis of the TABLE files produces the following result:
TABLE is a very common file type and includes various formats for various programs. The file formats most commonly found in TABLE files are:
- 25% of all TABLE files use ZIP compression, that is, a TABLE file includes multiple compressed files. The average file count is 3 with most TABLE files containing between 3 - 170 compressed files. File names are e.g. data.bin, meta.xml and spec.xml. You can see the included files and images by renaming the file extension to .zip and then double-clicking it. The file size is in the range of 2 KB to 5 MB. The files contain the following words: spec.xml. The file name dataset_2020_2015.table or AssociationRules.table is characteristic of these files. These files are attributed to association, rules, data, sentiment, analysis, output, reviews and model.
- 10% of all TABLE files start with the magic bytes 02 00 00 80 02 00, which are always the first bytes of this file format. They consist of unreadable binary data. TABLE files can be up to 4 MB in size, but are often around 540 KB - 4 MB. A usual file name is kws.table or ti_dnn_en-US.table. Files like these have the following tags: heycortana.
The remaining 65% of all TABLE files are files with no common format, often, for example, XML, JSON, Netzsch and Application. Often described as results, sample, long, zungerpp, gene, ignition, simple, info, java, name, temp, text or user. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your TABLE file!
Technical Data for TABLE File Extension
a table data file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with TABLE files
- Associate the TABLE file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest TABLE file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available KNIME Analytics Platform update.
- To make sure that your TABLE file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .TABLE file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
