Opening a TLX File
The TLX file type is primarily associated with Pro:Centric.
What is a TLX file?
This file is not one single type but a container for different kinds of data. Some TLX files serve as TV channel configuration files used by Pro:Centric systems. Others are spell checking dictionary files created for the Wintertree Spelling Checker Engine (Wintertree Software). There are also TLX files that store Shimadzu TOC analyzer data used by scientific instruments, and a few that come in an XML format to record tree‐ring measurements with Tilia software (Tilia XML Data). A minor group is used as a thumbnail collection or as a Visual Basic template file in Timeline Express.
To view and work with these files, examine their contents using a text editor if they are in XML format. Otherwise, use the specialized software provided by the related company.
- TV configuration: Managed by Pro:Centric systems.
- Spell checking dictionary: Use Wintertree Spelling Checker for these files.
- TOC analyzer data: Open with Shimadzu instrument software.
- Tree‐ring data files: These use XML and work well with Tilia software.
- Thumbnail collections or VB templates: Handled by Timeline Express.

TLX file format details:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. Our analysis of the TLX files produces the following result:
The file type with the extension 'TLX' includes different formats for different programs. The two most common formats are as follows:
