TZX file format:
A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. In the following you will find our evaluation of the TZX files:
TZX is not a common file extension and mainly uses a defined TZX format. The file formats most commonly found in TZX files are:
- 85% of all TZX files are ZX Spectrum Tape image files. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The files are 6 KB to 57 KB in size, with a median of 42 KB. The file type is very old but is also used today. The keywords ZXTape! and Created with Ramsoft MakeTZX are typical for these files. These files can be linked to software, release and side.
- 7% of all TZX files use the ZIP format, i.e. a TZX file contains several compressed files. Most often they are 3 to 6 compressed files. Customary file names are Info.xml, UserObjects.json and UserObjectsLargeData.json. You can see the included files and images by renaming the file extension to .zip and then double-clicking it. TZX files are between 2 KB and 1 MB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as Info.xml.
All the rest of the TZX files (8%) have different formats. They are often associated with usuario. If you want to find out what your TZX file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
