Opening a CAS File
The CAS file type is primarily associated with AutoCAD.
What is a CAS file?
How to open a CAS file
You need a suitable software like AutoCAD to open a CAS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your CAS file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a CAS file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert CAS files:
- AutoCAD by Autodesk
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. CAS files are often referred to as AutoCAD data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Atari (cassette image) by AtariAtari was a brand of 8-bit and 16-bit personal computers and video games that could store data in the CAS-Cassette image format (CAS) invented by Ernest R. Schreurs, for his Digital Cassette Image system which includes CAS2SIO, WAV2CAS, and CAS2WAV MS-DOS utilities. This file format is classified as Backup. - Cascade DTP (web page layout) by Price MediaCascade DTP was an experimental desktop publishing software for Internet Explorer and other browsers using CSS technology. Users could build their web page's layout with Cascade DTP while previewing the HTML and CSS in the browser. The page layouts designed with Cascade DTP were saved in CAS files. This file format is classified as Page Layout.
- Casio (calculator program) by CasioCasio is the name of standard and programmable calculators manufactured by the Japanese company Casio. The programs for performing computations on Casio calculators were written using the computer Algebra System and stored in CAS files. This file format is classified as Executable.
- FLUENT (case) by FluentFLUENT is a modelling software used to design and visualize industrial equipment and operations such as heat transfer, turbulence, and airflow used for a spectrum of flow modeling applications and industries. The CAS file used by FLUENT contain case data. This file format is classified as 3D Image.
- i2's Analyst's Notebook (timeline analysis) by IBMi2 Analyst's Notebook is a data visualization and analysis software with capabilities for multidimensional visual analysis allowing analysts to uncover hidden patterns and connections in pieces of data. This software is typically used to investigate or detect fraud. CAS files created with i2 Analyst's Notebook contain timeline analysis. This file format is classified as Data.
- Quest (compiled adventure game) by Alex WarrenQuest is a text adventure game, also known as interactive fiction. The game also allows users to create their own world or interactive story with the in-game editor without needing to learn any programming. Compiled Quest games have CAS file extension. This file format is classified as Game.
- TV-Computer (tape) by VideotonTV-Computer were 8-bit computers developed in the 1980s. The CAS files used by these computers contain data recorded from cassettes which used the TV-Computer for data storage. Such CAS files may be accessed with TV-Computer emulators and were transferable back to the tape. This file format is classified as Data.
CAS file format:
Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Below is our analysis of the CAS files:
The CAS file type is a very commonly used file extension and includes a lot of different file formats for different programs. The following file formats are most commonly found in CAS files:
- 8% of all CAS files start with the magic bytes 1F 85 4B 40 26 00 00 00 09, which are always the first bytes of this file format. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. Most of these files are 6 KB to 74 KB in size. This is an old file type which is rarely used today. The files contain the following words: ?gf&?333? and Y?gff?33s?. Files like these are sometimes connected to village, unit, barb, longshield, warband, celtic, lowest, saxons, high and town.
- 7% of all CAS files start with the bytes CON , which are crucial for this file format. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. Most of these files are 400 KB to 62 MB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as CON, 09-18-06 and X803395-001. Such files are related to super, star, custom and create.
All other CAS files (85%) have no consistent format, such as Frostbite Container of ASsets, Fluent case, MSX Cassette tape image, Quest adventure, zlib, TOI, FUJI and UUUUUUUUUUU. These files are often connected to attack, setup, peasant, cassyr, female, general or greek. Just click the "Choose your .cas file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your CAS file is.

a cas cascade license data is a special file format by Autodesk and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with CAS files
- Associate the CAS file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open cascade license data files. Because only the current version supports the latest CAS file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Autodesk manufacturer website after an available AutoCAD update.
- To make sure that your CAS file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .CAS file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
