Opening a V2I File
The V2I file type is primarily associated with Ghost.
What is a V2I file?
How to open a V2I file
You need a suitable software like Ghost to open a V2I file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your V2I file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a V2I file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert V2I files:
- Ghost by Broadcom
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. V2I files are often referred to as Ghost disk images because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Voyage 200 (disk image file) by ticalc.orgVoyage 200 (also V200 and Voyage 200 PLT) was released in 2002, being the replacement for the TI-92 Plus, with its only hardware upgrade over that calculator being an increase in the amount of flash memory available (2.7 megabytes for the Voyage 200 vs. 702 kilobytes for the TI-92 Plus). This file format is classified as Disk Image. Related links: Voyage 200 Wikipedia Page, ti89 page
V2I file format:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our evaluation of the V2I files is as follows:
The file type with the extension 'V2I' is used by different programs with different formats. The following file formats are most commonly found in V2I files:
- 60% of all V2I files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "$CAN" at the beginning. They consist of unreadable binary data. V2I files can be up to 470 GB in size, but are often around 330 MB - 100 GB. The file type was primarily used more than 10 years ago. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. $CAN and Base. The file name Local Disk_C_Drive.v2i is characteristic of these files. Such files sometimes refer to drive, local, disk, system and desktop, and frequently comprise personal data.
- 35% of all V2I files start with the bytes x&, which are crucial for this file format. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The files are 740 MB to 20 GB in size, with a median of 4 GB. A common filename is C_Drive.v2i or C_Drive001.v2i. Such V2I files store data about laufwerk.
All other V2I files (5%) have different formats. If you want to find out which format your V2I file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .v2i file to analyze".

How to solve problems with V2I files
- Associate the V2I file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open disk image files. Because only the current version supports the latest V2I file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Broadcom manufacturer website after an available Ghost update.
- To make sure that your V2I file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
