What is a V2I file?

V2I files mostly belong to Ghost by Broadcom. V2I is a short form of virtual volume image. V2I is a backup file generated by Norton Ghost application. V2I file stores images of whole disk and system partition images. User can create security backup files of the data using V2I files. Norton Ghost is a paid license application, currently owned by Symantec and distributed under the name Ghost Solution Suite. User need to install .NET framework to restore data from V2I image files.

How to open a V2I file

V2I file format:

The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. The files are 740 MB to 20 GB in size, with a median of 4 GB. A common filename is C_Drive.v2i or C_Drive001.v2i. Such V2I files store data about laufwerk.
