VID file format:
Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Below is our analysis of the VID files:
VID is a very common file type and mainly uses a special format. The two most common formats are as follows:
- 80% of all VID files are based on the well-known MP4 file format. MP4 is a multimedia container format used to store video and audio and allows streaming over the Internet. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The files are 170 MB to 1 GB in size, with a median of 590 MB. The file type was created recently. The keywords lmvhd, ftypisom, isomiso2avc1mp41, \tkhd, moov and trak are typical for these files. These files are often associated with asian, tcdq, woman, mjaymda, barbie, love, mtgz, yzwnvcm, jlzw, rlci and movie.
- 5% of all VID files start with the magic bytes 05 00 00 00 04 00 00 00 04, which are always the first bytes of this file format. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. The files are 650 bytes to 82 KB in size, with a median of 2 KB. The following keywords are characteristic: Project. A usual file name is Project 1.vid or Project 2.vid. Such VID files store data about projet.
The remaining 15% of all VID files are files with no common format, such as Bethesda Softworks video, HTML, RES and gdvr. Tagged as anim, camera, momonogi, ymdiwlta, blonde, gabbie, melody, veroni, marks, scene or kana. If you want to find out what your VID file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
