The VLT file type is primarily associated with VLC media player.
What is a VLT file
VLT files mostly belong to VLC media player. The majority of VLT files are used by VLC media player as skin customization files. These files are internally formatted with GZIP compression so that all skin elements – layouts, icons, and configuration data – are packaged together. When loaded in VLC, they change the look of the player’s interface. You can view and edit these skins using VLC and a decompression tool (such as 7-Zip).

How do you open VLT files?
You need a suitable software like VLC media player to open a VLT file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. VLT is not that commonly used as a file extension. This file type covers different formats for different programs. The following file formats are most commonly found in VLT files:
- 50% of all VLT files are based on the popular GZIP file format. Gzip is a compressed archive file format. Gzip (GNU zip) is only capable of compressing a single file. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. VLT files are between 70 KB and 400 KB in size. The file type is relatively new. A usual file name is default.vlt or eDark Vlc.vlt. Files like these are sometimes connected to dark, darklounge, windows, argenta, player, media and night.
- 10% of all VLT files have the same signature VT17. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. A typical file size is 20 MB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as FILENAME=TTRGame.vlt, TIMESTAMP, VERSION, CREATOR=container, ttr-live-v2, AVEEl and ttr-live-v3. Examples of file names are TTRGame.vlt.

How to solve problems with VLT files
