What is an XS file?

XS files mostly belong to Age of Empires III by Xbox Game Studios. An XS file is a script referenced during the creation of custom XML maps used in Age of Empires III video game. It contains commands that the game's artificial intelligence system uses to generate random XML maps. XS is also the filename extension of a script containing wrapper functions used by the h2xs or xsub modules of Perl programming environment. Another type of XS file contains an application launcher for Exceed remote access software for running X-Window applications on Windows operating system.

How to open XS files

You need a suitable software like Age of Empires III to open an XS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. XS file extension format:
