Opening an XTB File
The XTB file type is primarily associated with Unity Pro XL.
What is an XTB file?
For example, one common use is as an XML translation bundle in industrial software like Unity Pro XL, particularly in systems managed by Schneider Electric. These files help exchange translation and configuration data between devices and control applications.
Other variants of XTB files exist:
How to open XTB files
You need a suitable software like Unity Pro XL to open an XTB file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your XTB file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a XTB file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert XTB files:
- Unity Pro XL
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. XTB files are often referred to as Unity Pro XL data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.

XTB file format:
A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the XTB files looks like this:
XTB is seldom used as a file extension and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 40% of all XTB files internally utilize the XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. These files are plain text, which means they can be viewed with any text editor such as Windows Editor, Nano for Linux, and TextEdit for macOS. XTB files are between 490 bytes and 200 KB in size. The file type is very recent. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. <!DOCTYPE translationbundle>, translationbundle lang, translation id, <?xml version="1.0" ?>, <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>, <TABExchangeFile>, <fileHeader company="Schneider, Schneider Automation, dateTime, date_and_time and product. Some examples of file names are Test Bravermana - joe smith 01-06-2020 10.30.xtb. Such files are related to strings, generated, resources, bravermana and android.
- 15% of all XTB files start with the magic bytes ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ, which are always the first bytes of this file format. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The files are often between 1 KB and 19 KB in size. Some examples of file names are CollectionRoom_chara_Cnv.xtb or ev_msg_ev110_e.xtb. Such files sometimes refer to dynamic, text, achievement, collection, chara, skill and room.
The remaining 45% of all XTB files are different files with different signatures, frequently e.g. DOC, ZIP, config and UTF-8. They are often associated with auto, landscape, keyboard, customize, settings, items, title or hint. If you want to find out which format your XTB file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .xtb file to analyze".
Technical Data for XTB File Extension
The following listing is compiled from the database produced by the 'Associate This!' program, selected data from the main FILExt database and file extension information submitted by users.

How to solve problems with XTB files
- Associate the XTB file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest XTB file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Unity Pro XL update.
- To make sure that your XTB file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .XTB file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
