Opening a ZPD File
The ZPD file type is primarily associated with ProtaStructure.
What is a ZPD file?
- ProtaStructure Project File
This file stores project data for use with ProtaStructure. It holds design details and structured data needed by the application. - DBX ZonePro Configuration File
This file contains configuration settings used with ZonePro Designer. It employs an .NET internal format. For more details, visit ZonePro.
FilExt.com tip: To view or edit a ZPD file, use the appropriate software. The file is proprietary and its structure is not meant for manual editing.
How to open ZPD files
You need a suitable software like ProtaStructure to open a ZPD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your ZPD file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a ZPD file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

ZPD file format:
If you know the file format, you can also find out how to open or edit the file. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our evaluation of the ZPD files looks like this:
The ZPD file extension is not common and is used by different programs with different formats. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 50% of all ZPD files start with the magic bytes <TAG>, which are always the first bytes of this file format. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. ZPD files are between 6 KB and 20 KB in size. The file type is relatively new. The keywords <TAG>, prjOnayDate, prjOnayMuh, prjOnayNot, prjStatus, prjOnayKod, prjArsiv, prjReportRes, prjLokalId, prjAbysBinaOk, prjUseFax, prjTimza, prjOimza, prjSigortaFlag, prjOnayMuhNo and prjPDFGUID are typical for these files. Files like these are about kolon, blok and kazan.
- 15% of all ZPD files are using the well-known .NET file format to store the data. The .NET format is used to save Microsoft .NET Framework objects to a file (ex. save game state as file) via object serialization. Such a .NET object may contain functions and data like settings, images or videos. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The files are 250 KB to 420 KB in size, with a median of 330 KB. The following keywords are characteristic: HMG.dbx.ZonePro.NodeZP, _CurScene, _IoMetersOn, _Scenes, _Schedule, _Type, GUIVersion, >ZonePro, Version=3.1.0.9, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null and WarnOutOfDateFirmware.
All other ZPD files (35%) have different formats. Sometimes used for fraktetiketter. Just click the "Choose your .zpd file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your ZPD file is.
Technical Data for ZPD File Extension
a zpd project file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with ZPD files
- Associate the ZPD file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open project files. Because only the current version supports the latest ZPD file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available ProtaStructure update.
- To make sure that your ZPD file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .ZPD file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
