AMD files mostly belong to 3ds Max.

Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). 15% of all AMD files use the same file format, which have the signature Licom-APS File V1.. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The files are 21 KB to 4 MB in size, with a median of 210 KB. The following keywords are characteristic: Licom-APS File, Licom-APS File V1, AlphaCAM and EMF.

The remaining 60% of all AMD files are files with no common format, the following 12 formats exist: ZIP, CHNK, amd, ABhd, MAPSIZEX, Program and STUDENT.
