Opening a DBS File
The DBS file type is primarily associated with MySQL.
What is a DBS file
How can I open a DBS file?
You need a suitable software like MySQL to open a DBS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your DBS file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a DBS file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert DBS files:
- MySQL by Oracle
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. DBS files are often referred to as MySQL databases because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- DB/TextWorks (textbase structure) by LucideaDB/TextWorks is a database management software for building and accessing "textbases" which may consist of text or binary data. The software is typically used to manage information stored in text format such as catalogs and bibliographies. The structure of a textbase created with DB/TextWorks is stored in a DBS file. This file format is classified as Database. Related links: Inmagic
- GAMBIT (3D mesh) by CFDGAMBIT is a 3D modelling software for Windows and Linux operating systems. It is used to create or view 3D geometry objects for visualizing calculations of liquid flow around structures. The DBS file created by GAMBIT contains 3D mesh data. This file format is classified as 3D Image.
- Hot Folder (script) by EquilibriumHot Folder, formerly Debabelizer is a software that provides a fast solution for mounting and batch-processing desktop and server workflows through its drag and drop API. Scripts written with Hot Folder are stored in DBS files. This file format is classified as Developer. Related links: Debabelizer is now MediaRich Hot Folder
- My Money (money database) by MTHMy Money is a cross-platform personal/business finance management software suite. It allows users to do business accounting, process electronic bank statements and complete financial transactions electronically. The password protected database for storing information about the users money has DBS file extension. This file format is classified as Database. Related links: My Money 2.0 Manaual
- Pathfinder (gis data) by TrimblePathfinder is a versatile land survey software suite. The program is capable of transforming GNSS data collected from the field to well organized GIS information. Earlier versions of Pathfinder and other GPS software/products from Trimble stored some GIS data in DBS files. This file format is classified as GIS.
- PRODAS (data) by Arrow TechPRODAS, short for Projectile Rocket Ordnance and Analysis System is made up of a series of weapons tools used as a standard for designing and visualizing models of projectile weapons. The programs in this kit are also used to test weapon efficiency. PRODAS stores data in DBS files. This file format is classified as Data.
- SQL Anywhere (db space) by iAnywhereSQL Anywhere is a data management and data exchange software. A SQL Anywhere database may be composed of one to 13 dbspaces. The main system dbspace, which contains all of the system tables as well as (optional) user tables, typically has an extension of DB. Additional dbspaces typically have DBS extension. This file format is classified as Database.
- SQLBase (database dbspace) by OpenTextSQLBase is a embeddable, relational database management system. The program is often used as the data management layer of native applications and web apps. Originally developed by Gupta, SQLBase stores its databases in DBS files. This file format is classified as Database. Related links: SQLBase, Gupta Technologies
- Word (printer settings) by MicrosoftWord is a rich text processor available as a native client and web app for multiple devices. The program typically ships as part of Office, a set of document/data processing/management software distributed by Microsoft. Earlier versions of Word stored printer configuration for fonts, resolution, and paper size in DBS files. This file format is classified as Settings. Related links: Microsoft Word
- Works (printer settings) by MicrosoftWorks is a discontinued software suite that offered users word processing, presentation, and database management solutions on Windows, DOS, and classic Mac operating systems. Microsoft, the developer of Works discontinued the program in 2009. Works stored printer settings like font size and paper size in DBS files. This file format is classified as Settings.
DBS format details:
Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. In the following you will find our evaluation of the DBS files:
DBS is a very common file type and includes various formats for various programs. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 25% of all DBS files are based on the well-known JSON file format. JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a lightweight data−interchange format. It is easy for humans to read and write. It is easy for machines to parse and generate. The contents of these files are easily readable with a text editor. A typical file size is 73 KB. The file type was created recently. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. project_settings, version, is_kitchen_model, door_offset, shelve_offset, corpus_thickness, tabletop_thickness, bottom_as_top_facade_models and bottom_modules_height. The following filename is common: project_01.06.2020 10_30.dbs. These files are attributed to coupe.
- 10% of all DBS files are associated with DBSchema Project files, which internally utilize the well-known XML format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. These files contain text and words, not binary data. DBS files are between 8 KB and 160 KB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: Project, <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>, database, project name, schema name, table name and PostgreSQL. Files like these are sometimes connected to schema, model and data.
All other DBS files (65%) have different formats, the following 11 formats exist: Locate32 Database container, SQL, XML, JetDB, ist and VER. The category is prog, audit, backup, param, biblio or kbstdaccountlist. If you want to find out what your DBS file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.

a dbs command is a special file format by Oracle and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with DBS files
- Associate the DBS file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open commands. Because only the current version supports the latest DBS file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Oracle manufacturer website after an available MySQL update.
- To make sure that your DBS file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .DBS file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
