What is a GCI file

GCI files mostly belong to GTA 2 by Rockstar. A GCI file contains car physics information used by Grand Theft Auto 2 (GTA 2) video game. Its contents are saved as plain text data where each line contains information about the model, mass, front drive/mass bias, brake slide value, maximum speed, turn ratio, brake friction etc. Visual EPR spectroscopy and magnetic resonance analysis software suite saves the table of components for irreducible tensors in a GCI file. How do you open GCI files?

Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. To view or edit GCI files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our analysis of the GCI files produces the following result:

The GCI file extension is not common and has no uniform or dominant file format. The file formats most commonly found in GCI files are:

8% of all GCI files start with the magic bytes GP, which are always the first bytes of this file format. They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are often between 41 KB and 90 KB in size. These files are attributed to character and gpoe.
7% of all GCI files have the same signature G8ME01ÿ. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. Most of these files are 81 KB to 130 KB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as G8ME01. The following filename is common: 01-G8ME-mariost_save_file.gci. Such files are related to mariost and save.
