What is a GCI file

GCI files mostly belong to GTA 2 by Rockstar. A GCI file contains car physics information used by Grand Theft Auto 2 (GTA 2) video game. Its contents are saved as plain text data where each line contains information about the model, mass, front drive/mass bias, brake slide value, maximum speed, turn ratio, brake friction etc. Visual EPR spectroscopy and magnetic resonance analysis software suite saves the table of components for irreducible tensors in a GCI file. Another type of GCI file contains a saved game position for a Gamecube video game such as Sonic Adventure DX. Dolphin and other Gamecube emulators can load and use such GCI files.

How do you open GCI files?

You need a suitable software like GTA 2 to open a GCI file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. To view or edit GCI files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. 70% of all GCI files belong to Nintendo GameCube save game. They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are often between 32 KB and 130 KB in size. The file type is a fairly new file format. A little tip: If you rename the file extension to .zip and then double-click, you will see the included files and images. Most of these files are 47 KB to 77 KB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as GroupFileProperty/ and GroupFileProperty/Image/. Such files are related to zstack and image.

These files are often connected to update, randomizer, cdmpnext, pikmin, character, princess, twilight, legend, zstack, codes, gnne, gpoe, kart or xxte.
