What is a GRS file?

GRS files mostly belong to Kompas-3D. GRS files are used by specialized design and data software. They do not represent one standard but are applied in different fields. How to open a GRS file

You need a suitable software like Kompas-3D to open a GRS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. To view or edit GRS files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. The GRS file extension does not have a uniform file format. But the following two file formats are common:

• 9% of all GRS files store the data in the 7z file format. 7z is a compressed archive file format that supports several different data compression, encryption and pre-processing algorithms.
