Opening a JDF File
The JDF file type is primarily associated with Delta.
What is a JDF file?
How can I open a JDF file?
You need a suitable software like Delta to open a JDF file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your JDF file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a JDF file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

JDF file format details:
A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our evaluation of the JDF files looks like this:
The JDF file extension is used very often and is mainly used by one program with a specific format. The following file formats are most commonly found in JDF files:
- 70% of all JDF files use the same file format, which have the signature JEOL.NMR. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The files are on average 290 KB in size and range from 250 KB to 550 KB. The file type is relatively new. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. JEOL.NMR. Such JDF files store data about proton, carbon, single, pulse, dmso, cdcl, teaching and spms.
- 10% of all JDF files start with the bytes 1NAJ crucial for this file format. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The files are often between 17 MB and 73 MB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. 1NAJ and admin. An example of a file name is 00000000.JDF or 20180601.JDF.
All other JDF files (20%) have different formats, often, for example, Job Definition Format Job File. They are often associated with unknown, maltol, sample, chem, mannose, water or meoh. If you want to find out what your JDF file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.

- To make sure that your JDF file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .JDF file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
